I'm a bit out the loop re detail differences but looks like it has a double rainstrip. Hoping it will survive (in service) until at least the end of the month. Problem working 12-hour days and living out of London

Where are 5715 and 5862? I note that they were last seen paired together but neither have been in service for over a week?
Are they simply not needed or does this signify that they could soon be on their way out...?

No I agree, the sooner the 455s and ratty four remaining 458/5s are gone, the better, in my opinion. The 458/4s and 701s I do like, but they need to ditch the New Celia announcements.

I would rather they keep the New Style Celia Drummond announcements. Replacing them on the 458s and 701s will almost certainly mean an introduction of those horrible Elinor Hamilton announcements used on the other classes which would be a massive downgrade. The 458s and 701s are the last of the SWR fleet with decent announcements.

According to RTT, 5908 was 1754 Waterloo - Dorking (with 5871) on Monday evening 18.08.25, so less than 48 hours between in service and heading for scrap. 5903 was last in passenger service 05.08.25

What happened to 5913 + 5851 off 1D54 DRK - WAT yesterday? I can't find any other working which I guess would have been 2J55 which was cancelled according to RTT. Did one of the units fail and the pair return to Wimbledon? Both of them weren't allocated for service today

Somebody with insider knowledge on the trainlogger website gave this information out a few days ago regarding BR B&G unit 5868: https://trainlogger.co.uk/forum/multiple-units/10935#latest

Latest regarding 5868 is that Porterbrook have donated it to Network Rail and half of the consist shall be preserved for static display at the Basingstoke ROC. The other half of the unit should be sent to a fire school for training purposes, however the location of such school isn't yet known.

Efforts are ongoing for another 455 unit to be preserved for mainline running, however I can't say anymore at the moment.

Arguably im one of the only ones that take no joy in still seeing them about and that's more so from driving the ghastly things

The very moment a 701 starts working on a Woking Bay, I expect things to progress even more quickly, In terms of more 455 withdrawals.

I actually didnt mind 455s as occasionally traction as long as I wasn't driving them for a whole week. Now it's just electrostar stuff on my side and it's a bit dull.
