Why are SWR terminating every other evening Reading-bound service at Bracknell? This seems to be a long term change, making a bad service at Wokingham even worse.

It’s already cheaper and quicker to drive to Twyford to use GWR (even after paying to park there). With endless closures and engineering works, plus this reduction, it really seems like SWR are trying to drive away what’s left of their passengers at Wokingham.

i wonder if gwr improve the stock and have sdo on north downs with better signalling they might takeover Wokingham, hopefully swr comeback with 4 a hour 2 fast 2 slow plan

To reflect demand and save money. In the reverse direction, there is only one journey missing from Reading, at 2212, and that gap between Reading and Wokingham will be partly filled with the restoration of the 2234 service from Reading to Guildford.

...or the passengers at Wokingham have indicated that they don't need anything more than an hourly service. It seems unfortunate that the trains are reversing at Wokingham, rather than Bracknell, but that is just how the timetable works.

There seems no chance of that now. I'm not sure what the North Downs service has to do with evening provision between Waterloo and Wokingham.

Waterloo to Aldershot, Farnham and Alton is also going down to 1tph on weekday evenings.

SWR's Ascot - Aldershot service continues to be 2tph throughout the evening. Likewise the Guildford - Farnham service. I doubt if either are as well used as Waterloo services. Go figure SWR's thinking!
