SWR Evening Out issues

I was aiming to buy a Parkstone (PKS) to Southampton Airport Parkway (SOA) evening out return the other day, using LNER to get an e-ticket on GPay. However it wouldn't sell the correct fare, only an Off Peak Day Return. SWR happily would so I had a look on a few other sites, Trainline, GWR Trainsplit and TFW wouldn't sell it, but C2C, scotrail and Avanti did. This was all for the same journey in the afternoon on Saturday Sept 11th. (Weirdly a couple assumed I couldn't take the 0037 departure because it was technically the next day.)

I was wondering why this is, has SWR messed up the implementation of these fares in the data? The fact that this issue goes across many but not all booking engines surprised me, initially I wondered if it was only SWR that could sell it.

I thought I'd put this on here to make people aware of the odditty and be careful where they buy tickets from, but also to see if anybody had any ideas why this has happened @Wallsendmag and @SickyNicky especially.

Probably some sites have not added the new ticket type (EVB). It's a constant battle to keep up with all the ticket types that TOCs invent.

I've noticed an oddity when I've looked up a fare for a journey I'm making at the end of the month.

This doesn’t seem to be an issue with the restriction code (the restriction is in the data as 04:30 - 12:00).

Is it possible that because the ticket isn’t permitted in the data to be sold on Sundays to encourage journey planners to offer the Sunday Out ticket, Saturday Evening Out tickets won’t be offered by some journey planners for any return journeys departing 00:00 - 04:29 on Sundays?

I now feel the urge to post this link on simple rail pricing, which was first published in 2013.

I appreciate it's not actually that ximple of course.
