SWR Class 455

I was on a few on Friday, although it was hot I don't think they were that bad

Not as nice as the 450s or 165s I used as well but I wasn't uncomfortable either.

I would definitely say the 455s are far more comfortable than class 345s

They really are very comfortable and excellent trains.

It's only really the lack of aircon that's an issue for a small part of the year.

What would you suggest they do? Cancel everything booked a 455?

Unless they're operating on an especially short route, then honestly yes. I would rather have passengers be inconvencied than be unsafe.

And they certainly should not be operating on the Dorking/Guildford routes.

If the trains run with 455s, passengers can decide for themselves whether to use them or not, and what measures they need to take if they do (flasks of cold drinks etc.).

If all 455 operated services were to be cancelled, no-one has a choice, and most metro routes will end up with no service at all. It's difficult to see that as the better option.

I wouldn't go that far, but what's true is that SWT did a very good refresh with them. It's amazing how much difference decent seats makes!

Ah yes it would be a good idea to try to fit everyone in replacement buses in a heatwave, wouldn’t it ?

Are you honestly suggesting the majority of passengers are incapable of looking after themselves? Most heat exhaustion cases happen at home. How are you going to keep people safe then?

How do you think the Underground manages? It's savagely hot in the deep level tube in even normal summer weather.

Exactly. We know how to look after ourselves. Today I used SWR, London Buses and the Underground. And before you ask, yes it was essential otherwise I wouldn't have got paid.
