Oh what do I know about when they put them out as there was no shortage of 701s on Saturday :lol::lol:
On Saturdays there are usually several 701s stabled all day at inconvenient locations. The one just gone looks to be 1 Farnham, 1 Woking Sidings and 3 Feltham. Logistically might not be easy to pinch one, fix another and put it back to replace the pinched one in effect inflating the diagram requirement to cover the stabled ones.
Are they the only two?
Yep only the one passenger working this morning. Possible some 455s might come out this afternoon still, that diagram being chosen might mean Wimbledon hopes to get another 701 available for the evening peak.

Cannot help feeling we are getting close to the very last day of 455s unless a few 450s and/or 458s need a rest ?.
There must be a growing pool of SWR metro route drivers who haven't driven a 455 unit for more that 6 months. A driver needs to drive a unit class at least once every 6 months, to retain the appropriate compencies, otherwise they will need a refresher course. As this pool grows over time it will make it more and more difficult to find a crew to operate a 455 unit in passenger service.

True. Furthermore it also means 701 competency will be much less of an issue than it has been. Save for new routes where 450s & 458s abound.

If they're going to start covering "just in case" for 450s and 458s as well then they'll never be withdrawn!

I can see some drivers being told they can never retire and heritage traction being allowed out on a Sunday just for old times sake :D.
Can only dream.

Speak of the devil, it looks like 5732 is planned to be covering for an unavailable 458 this afternoon
2S47 1552 London Waterloo to Weybridge
2S56 1740 Weybridge to London Waterloo
2V57 1907 London Waterloo to Twickenham

I saw it while sitting squashed up on a busy 701. Thought if only this had the 455's seats.

Just a heads up, 5717+5727 are out tonight as well - should currently be on the 1737 Waterloo Rounder, out via Hounslow and back via Richmond. Then booked for the following:

2C61 1920 London Waterloo to Reading
2C72 2109 Reading to London Waterloo
2S75 2252 London Waterloo to Weybridge

Currently on 5732 17.40 Weybridge to Waterloo. Likely to be my last ride on a 455.

... And hopefully my last moan about still running 4 carriage 455's many years after they should have been replaced.

Is that the only (last?) 4 car 455 diagram to run this year so far?

I believe that's a 458 diagram? They do seem to be short on 458s, 8410 and 8413 haven't come back after their respective...incidents...last week and 8401 is long term out of use (reportedly being used for parts).

A degree of confusion at Waterloo right now, 701013 now seemingly alloxed to this despite the platform it was on advertising as the 1703 until a few minutes ago and now for the 1720 to Reading, while the departure boards state the 1737 rounder is caped.

455 712 + 455 717 are indeed approaching Waterloo ECS - I just went past them.

701 013 is at Waterloo in platform 19... or at least it was a few minutes ago ( I'm on 701 022 ).
