Does anyone know how many units are allocated on a daily basis from the fleet, and the differences at weekends?

Required availability is the same 7 days a week (virtually all weekend Exeter services beyond Salisbury are 6 cars and on Sundays most are 9 cars London side of Salisbury)

26x159 diagrams daily
7x158 diagrams daily

I have seen some of the Exeter/Bristol services, which used to be 9 carriages from London, the rear 3 being for Bristol, now being 8 from London and only 2 to Bristol?

There’s a 159 refurb programme going on and they are presumably going to be altering normal use of units? The May 2019 carriage workings are still showing the normally planned workings, with all Bristol services being 159, but that’s not necessarily going to be possible while units are away at Loughborough.

The 158 which was on hire to Great Western has effectively come back to provide a spare DMU

It’s cropped up now and again in the fairly long SWR refurbishment thread in the rolling stock forum, although I’ve not been on one recently. I don’t think it’s a massive change at all, slight changes to the first/standard seating ratio, and maybe someone will confirm if first class is going 2+2 like the 450s and 444s.
