Thank you for sharing this. That is an excellent find. I wonder where they are getting the data from. My only complaint is that it only lets you search by service number so you first have to find out what the service number of the train you are looking up is. It would be good if you could simply search by station as that would make it much easier to find trains.

It's open data in Switzerland. The data feed only allows for querying by operator and date and train number (all 3 need to be provided) and has a very restrictive 5 requests a minute limit.

@Robski has answered the question, but I will work on trying to get something like a station view going as I have a couple ideas on how to make it work.

This surprised me as I couldn't find any non-Swiss composition data while building the site, it would sometimes return "ÖBB 1116" but that was all I could get

Why would you need this function? (genuine question) If you know the station and route you can easily the train numbers on the official timetable:

IMO this doesn't really show you any more than you can find on the SBB journey planner, eg I randomly chose train 2167 - this is a Bern - Zurich IR formed of a loco symbol + 3 coach symbols marked 'low floor entry' + 3 coach symbols with a 'entry with steps' symbol. The no entry sign between the two coach sets indicates no through gangway which is of course impossible between IC2000 coaches and single deck stock



This means that it is a Class 460 loco + 3 IC2000 double deckers + 3 EWIV/EC single deckers

Reisezuge der Schweiz will also give you the formation detail for train 2167 with 'proper' graphics of the stock

Why would you need this function? (genuine question) If you know the station and route you can easily the train numbers on the official timetable:

Because it is easier to search once than correlate multiple sources.
