Swaps |Trains!?

Has anyone found a way to swap the trains on BVE4 like BRR has done in BVE2 well theres a way! Before saying how to do it can I have permission to try it on Richards Excellent route Harcroft>? I'm going to try a 66 on there is that ok rich ?

Can anyone tell me if Im aloud to do this before I post HOW you do it ???

You don't need permission to do it without releasing the modified route.

Just modify the paths in BRR and it'll do it for you.

Well Im sorry people like richard for there routes but what you do is go into the BVE4 folder and go to routes find whatever open the windows excel and find a word that has Folder . and type whatever train you want and it works! (im very sorry to makers of any route but the routes wont change only train!)

Just remember it won't affect any train images and/or text on the timetables, nor the train length. For example running a four-car 321 on a three-car 158 file, you will still need to use the three-car stops.

I find it useful to do this....

In the "With Train" part of a route file, list all your trains, and simply comment out with semi-colons the ones you don't want to run... like this...

with Train
.Folder cl158
;.Folder ONE_class156
;.Folder 37901 Empty Steel Carriers
;.Folder HST4
;.Folder Voyager

which would run the route with the 158 DMU..... move the semi colons around like this...

with Train
;.Folder cl158
;.Folder ONE_class156
;.Folder 37901 Empty Steel Carriers
.Folder HST4
;.Folder Voyager

and it runs with the HST.....

So, before running the route, open it in something like Notepad and edit those semicolons, save it, and away you go.....

If you wanted, you could make your own timetable bitmaps for each type of traction, then find the timetable line, add one for each train, and comment them out as above...

... hope that makes sense.

Let me guess - this is what's turned up on an FGW stopper from Westbury to Bristol over the last few months :? ?

BTW, if you have a look at the 'BRF' scripting that comes with the BVE Route Randomiser, I think you could pretty easily work out a way to match the train to an appropriate stop point. You could change the timetable image too, I think. You'd need to run the result through BRR.
