The fastest trains on the 165 mile Swansea - Paddington route are about 2¾, could that be shaved down to 2½ with the current infrastrucure and stock if all the pathing conflicts could be ironed out? Indeed, what's the fastest feasible journey time?

If you don't stop it's easy, but that then becomes the most pointless train on the UK network

2h44 or 2h49 alternating in the 1978 timetable. (2h44 fast to Newport / 2h49 with Reading stop)
