swanage railway diesel gala 2018

noticed this was on over the weekend

does anyone know or have info on timings when the visiting locos get taken back home on the mainline as wouldnt mind photographing them at brockenhurst or somewhere like that

also the purbeck explorer sounds interesting on the monday with class 20s and a 4tc wouldnt mind seeing that!

"Purbeck Explorer 2 on the afternoon of Sunday 13th May 2018. The train runs from Corfe Castle to Ealing Broadway (departure 15:25). It will call at Basingstoke, Woking, Clapham Junction and Kensington Olympia before terminating at Ealing Broadway"

Am i missing something by why no go to the Swanage Railway, go for a ride on the train, photograph and contribute to putting on the event?

because im busy over the weekend, and only just found out it was on so bit short notice...i cant just drop everything....i can how ever pop out for a short time to photograph them as they go by a local station...
it also makes for more interesting photos of them on the mainline, somewhere you might not usually see them especially not in a convoy

fair enough - the details are in the diesel gala timetable but obviously not the main line part. I would love to go but the journey by train doesn't offer a long time on the railway

BTW - the Thursday and Sunday tours seems a clever way to make some money out of an ECS working.

ive not been for years now, ive been there so many times over the years id just rather see them on the mainline, especially the class 20s and 4tc, thats very rare down this way hence wanting to photograph it in action on the main line

I have never been but it looks like a weekend job from here sadly. it is on the list.....................

it is worth going, maybe its because im local i dont appreciate it as much as ive been going since i was a very young kid
