Good stuff.
Kudos to whoever has managed to swing no kettles on Sat/Sun, I for one am impressed and will no doubt be attending, look forward to reading the lineup next year.

The odd kettle out wouldn't worry me, but the SVR seems to run as many steam as diel hauled services at weekends on diesel galas.

Equally, if not more, important - will the SVR hold connections for people wishing to change at Bewdley, or let trains depart early (they don't even wait for time sometimes)? I guess this is too much to hope for!

A few kettles (say one set of stock) doesn't bother me but the amount they've had out in recent years combined with, for me, not great rosters to spend time on locos I rate, has made it hard to justify visiting SVR diesel galas if I can't get the Friday off. Which is a shame, as it is still a premier league line.

From what I hear Bewdley has been better recently although I'd still be loathe to leap there. Once bitten twice shy...

I agree about the rosters - I remember one gala where the two hydraulics operating worked consecutive trains! Hopefully some thought will go into it so a roster is produced which encourages people to attend. As for Bewdley, I'll believe it if it happens, people have been complaining for years about it!

As a volunteer with the diesel dept at the SVR I can tell you that the organiser is well aware of it and at last years event as many trains as possible booked to pass at Bewdley used plat 2 going south and plat 3 going north allowing cross platform connections, hopefully the same will be applied again. I can say that I went for a ride a couple of weeks ago at the DMU event, planned the moves in advance to do the full line and and have all the units between 1300 and 1900 and every connection made. Hopefully there will be plenty of support for the event to show that going diesel only was a good decision and created a bigger attendence.

I've never doubted the organisers knowing what people want - it's getting it accepted at Bewdley that has always appeared to be the problem. Good luck to him in being successful!

In honesty, it wasn't a problem at the 2009 gala.
