surviving diesels in USA

Doing a coast to coast trip of Museums and while i can find a site that lists the surviving Steam locos, haven't yet found one covering diesels
Anyone know of one
Tried all the usual searches but limited results

I am not sure anyone specializes in diesels.
Off the top of my head, for mainline railroading,
The Strassburg Railroad and Railroad museum of Pennsylvania located adjacent to each other in Strassburg, PA.
Steamtown in Scranton PA, yes they also have diesels.
Illinois Railroad Museum near Chicago
Museum of Transport both Green Bay WI and St. Louis MO
California State Railroad Museum Sacramento CA.

The Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, CA has a sizeable collection (over 40, and I think only one steam loco), mostly EMD but including Fairbanks Morse, Alco, GE and Baldwin, from small switchers to a monster DDA40X 'Centennial'. The Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, CA does have a few (and it's well worth visiting for the large collection of interurban and streetcars anyway).

+1 vote for the Illinois Railroad Museum (Union, IL) - it's got a huge collection of every sort of rolling stock, diesel, electric, steam, streetcar, interurban, railcars etc. This is a 'must see' museum, really.

(...and although it's not in a museum, Metra in Chicago still has an EMD SW1 switcher in use as a workshop/yard switcher, dating from the early 1940s. This is one of the oldest operational diesels in the US).

I should have mentioned both Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific have heritage painted diesels. Of course you cannot set foot on railroad property these days. After a day at Strassburg, you can stay at Bridgeview Inn Marysville PA where you can watch a parade of Norfolk Southern freights across the Rockville Bridge. Rail friendly staff and great place.

+1 for the Bridgeview - if you are sitting out on the viewing deck, Rockville Bridge is in front of you and the main tracks at the north end of Enola Yard are behind you - full surround sound
