Surprised that people take big risks for small savings

Whilst not directly related to the OP issue and maybe needs to be a different thread I am often surprised how little is being saved for the risk involved. Of course a small saving over 100 journeys soon mounts up and if not caught, then the more you get away with the less likely you feel you will be caught although in this case buying a childs ticket and going through a gated station like Reading seems very risky. Maybe with an adult ticket from Twyford you would have continued to get away with it but the fare difference by doughnutting would be minimal ?

Burnham to Reading return £10.40 anytime

Burnham to Taplow return £4.00 anytime
Twyford to Reading return £4.90 anytime (£2.45 child)

So a saving daily of £3.95 by using a childs fare. I dont drink the stuff but that sounds just about the price of a Starbucks to me ?

I do agree with what your saying - but you could view as 40% "saving" of nearly half of your daily travel expenses???

Also (and I can't be bothered to look it up) but presumably a season ticket would be even cheaper overall if its a daily commute.

I will be purchasing a seasonal ticket i have looked at that and is a little cheaper from buying ticket every day.

I will wait for the letter and see what the outcome is from there side, and i will probobly need help writing that letter as i want that to be all correct before i send it back, i will have a help from a friend.

If you do buy a season ticket, you should mention this in your letter. It helps to demonstrate that you have learned your lesson and are going to pay the correct fare in future.
