Im guessing you take some commission on the ticket price so im guessing the ticket is more expensive?

if so no offence but I doubt many will buy off your site as people want the cheapest

Tickets are NOT more expensive as you are directed to the train line website.
The whole point of this is to get commission to keep the site online. I would not be doing it otherwise!! Commission is very low anyway.

The 10% NXEC discount on some Standard Advance tickets bought on its web site does not apply.
The £1 EMT discount on some First Class and Standard Advance tickets bought on its web site does not apply.
The 50% TPE discount (instead of 34%) on some Standard Advance tickets bought using a 16-25 Railcard on its web site does not apply.

It makes no difference if you go directly to the train line or link from www.nationalrail.co.uk. If the above discounts where not available by linking from the station site - it is simply because it is not a train line product. Tickets are NOT more expensive as all you do is get diverted to the train line website and deal with the train line.
The same applies with expedia. Product may be cheaper if you book elsewhere, but you will NOT be charge more by expedia if you link directly from my site and decide to book.

Commission is generated from ticket sales. Basically the train line gives me a tiny bit back from the profits they make, if anyone buys a ticket when linked from my site. Believe me you will not make a living out of this as you will have to sell millions of tickets. Also tickets will have to be the value of £25 or more.

When tickets are sold, by whatever means the retailer receives a cut of the ticket price, I believe 10% or somewhere in that region. On top of that, the Trainline also charges a booking fee, which not all online retailers do, thereby making the Trainline more expensive than most other websites by whatever amount the booking fee is these days. I assume that for having a link to the Trainline, the Stratford website gets a paid each time said link is used to buy a ticket.

yes they charge a booking fee AND charge a fee if you use a credit card.

so it IS more expensive and the OPs claim is false.

I'm sorry to tell you this but it does make a difference.

Firstly TOC branded versions of theTrainline such as the First Scotrail version (http://www.firstscotrail.trainsfares.co.uk/) do not charge the £2.50 credit card booking fees, your site does. If you are confused over this issue, the following website was set up dedicated to help passengers avoid said charges and gives a nice explanation, (http://jonathan.rawle.org/2007/12/31/how-to-avoid-thetrainline-fees/).

And secondly TOC branded versions of theTrainline and other WebTISs often have special discounts that are only available through that specific site. As John @ home has already posted above, these include the 10% NXEC discount on some Standard Advance tickets and the 50% TPE discount (instead of 34%) on some Standard Advance tickets bought using a 16-25 Railcard on its web site does not apply.

Your claim that tickets purchased on your website are "NOT more expensive" is completely misleading and I would hope you would now withdraw said remark since the above information has now been brought to your attention.

I am not saying that the train line are the cheapest and the best, all I am trying to explain is that I do not put any extra charges by linking from my site, and therefore I am NOT more expensive from the train line. I understand that other companies offer better deals!!

I'd be shocked if anyone who reads this forum regularly uses thetrainline given the extra charges have been well publicised here several times!

I do not use the train line because of their charges and so I would not use any other site that links to it unless said charges were removed. As the OP urged people to please buy their train tickets from the startford station website, presumably rather than other TOC sites or online retailers, it would appear that either they didn't know that other sites were cheaper, or they were trying to mislead people. It took until their thrid post to admit that tickets may be cheaper elsewhere...
