Tram 114 inbound blue route at west triangle.
Currently no services except Halfway-Station
On site speculation suggested afternoon restart.
Plan is to jack and slide across.
Why no services from Cathedral to Meadowhall/Malin Bridge? Isolation issues?

If the derailment is on the triangle then the derailed tram is only a few metres from tracks that would have to be used by Meadowhall services. Even if this is a safe separation, it would probably be impossible to do re-railing work that close to moving trams.

The tram was running wrong line between Ponds Forge and Station in a trial run for forthcoming Castle Square closures which will see Blue and Yellow services departing and arriving at separate platforms at Ponds Forge

I heard about this on Capital FM this morning who said it was a broken down tram. I live in The Pinnacles student accommodation which is right next to Park Square and walked passed the incident on the way into Uni this morning. There must have been around four or five Supertram vans and loads of workmen around, and the area was taped off. I managed to take a few quick photographs as I passed.

Typically, I have to go to the Olive Grove campus of Sheffield College on Fridays for Electrical and Electronic labs (I'm doing the Engineering Foundation year and Sheffield Hallam University have a contract with the college for the Electrical and Electronic module) and I walk along the path that runs next to the tram line. It can get quite busy at 8:45 at Sheffield station tram stop on any morning, but there were loads of people walking down the path heading towards Ponds Forge and the City centre this morning. I saw the first lot near the entrance to Park Hill and realised they had left a tram that had terminated at the station, but a second tram that terminated just before I got the station tram stop made it incredibly difficult to get through everyone!

On my way back to the flat just before 11am, the tram had moved onto the bridge, but there was still a considerable number of men about, possibly some were investigators? The were still a few vans about but they were starting to leave. The area was still taped off. A tram was also waiting at Fitzalan Square tram stop- presumably it arrived there shortly before/after the incident and hadn't been able to go anywhere. As I was taking the last few photos, the derailed tram set off towards Fitzalan Square. Presumably it headed to Cathedral tram stop to reverse and then headed back to the depot?

Not something that happens every day. I think it's only happened once before and that was around when the system opened

On Thursday morning all trams(except Purple) will start and terminate at Fitzallan Square due to a visitor at the Cathedral.

A chance to see parallel running over the bridge?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
During HM's visit todaywhen Blue an Yellow services used Fitzallan Square as the terminus.
Yellow trams ran wrong road inbound across the bridge from the delta crossover and departed normally.
Blue trams ran from the station across the delta towards Meadowhall and reversed wrong road into the same platform as the yellow tram.
Purple route trams reversed at the station.

The south platform at Fitzallan Square remained unused and there was a great deal of congestion.
Later on in the year Fitzallan Square will again be the terminus for a longer period.
