Super off peak?

Travelling from Burton on Trent - Chafford Hundred, traveline app comes up with Super off peak return, (returning about 17.29 or 17.59)
Can i buy this ticket from the Burton station? and is it ok travelling there via Bham-Euston, and returning via St Pancras-Derby, national rail website says yes, but i don't want to get stung for a penalty for having the wrong ticket.
Outwards journey is 09.38 from Burton, price is £64.60.
Any help would be great, thanks guys.

Yes. The £64.60 Super off peak return Burton on Trent - Chafford Hundred is route + ANY PERMITTED. This allows travel by any permitted route between Burton and London, then by any permitted route between London and Chafford Hundred. The National Routeing Guide shows that both Burton - Tamworth - (Nuneaton or Birmingham) - Euston and Burton - Derby - St Pancras are permitted routes between Burton and London. The '+' sign indicates that the ticket also includes tube travel in each direction between the appropriate London terminals.

How did you manage that? I didn't know the machines sold tickets from other stations!

Many do, but UK ones don't. That's why I interpreted miked's post to mean that at 12:04 he had just arrived at Euston, having bought the ticket from the self service machine before leaving Burton. The 09:38 he mentions from Burton was due to connect with a service due at Euston at 11:54.

I live in Burton, and bought the ticket from the self serve at Burton, and John was right, the sevice into London was a few minutes late.

Ah, very good. PS the above answer is specific to this ticket and route. Some off-peak and super off-peak tickets restrict break of journey, others don't.

i got to st pancras quite early, and asked what was the earliest train i could get, an they said any, i read on the bored theres no time restriction on returning sat/sun, that was on the EMT bored regarding ticket times, currently on the 18.25 St Pancras-Sheffield, had my ticket checked and weekend upgrade, nobodys said anything about it being super off peak.

There are no time restrictions on Saturdays/Sundays.
