Hi,

i have purchased a super off peak ticket to Taunton for this weekend but on the return there is a chance for me to start the journey at Bristol.

Will my ticket allow me to do this. I have no reserved seats or anything like that.

Many thanks in advance

It appears that the earliest train you can catch from Bristol Temple Meads is 0945 Monday-Friday but if your journey is a Saturday/Sunday then you can get any train from Bristol.

It is allowed to start short at Bristol, this is counted as a "break of journey", and there is nothing forbidding a break of journey on either portion of this ticket.

Break of journey is allowed on all (Super) Off Peak (Day) Singles / Returns unless a prohibition is in force, no such restriction exists for this ticket.

Also it is the return portion, which is allowed in all but a very small number of cases.

Bristol is on a 'permitted route' between Taunton and London & beyond.

(Note, for anyone looking this up in Avantix Traveller NFM08, the entries for "outward" and "return" travel are messed up and are reversed!)

And in Avantix it says:

Validity codes CE/CJ apply to
all journeys via London St
Pancras International.

But code CE dosn't exist and the PDF refers to code CI.

Validity Codes CI / CJ apply for all journeys via London St Pancras International.

ahh thats great news.. Thanks very much for your help Yorkie.

much appreciated

You're welcome :)

sorry i wasnt aware that mattered but its to Herne bay

Best thing to do when asking for advice here is give as much info as possible.

If you had said your ticket was from somewhere else, it may not have been valid, for example if Bristol was not on a permitted route for that ticket. Had that been the case, we would have come up with an alternative.

It's irrelevant for your case, don't worry about it.
