Hi!

I'm travelling from Guildford to Surbiton with a super off-peak day return, but there is conflicting information on whether there are evening restrictions on the return. Avantix says:

By any train except those
timed to depart London
Terminals, Queenstown Rd or
Clapham Junction Mondays to
Fridays between 1600 & 1900
inclusive.

This seems to rule out returning around 1700. However, South West Trains's journey planner allows travel on any evening service. Also, a sticker on the ticket machine says you cannot leave London Waterloo, Queenstown Road or Clapham Junction between 1600 and 1900, suggesting the restriction only applies from those stations.

Can anyone clear the confusion? Thanks

Yes. I emailed them on the subject, pointing out that the Avantix restriction appears to be badly worded, ie it refers to the train rather than where you get on it, and they repied that the restrictions definitely do not apply outside the listed stations.

Journey planners apply the rules correctly as far as I know, I tested it by asking for return trains from Wimbledon down to Hampshire, and during the evening peak it doesn't allow travelling via Clapham Junction, which it does at other times.

I'm 99% convinced that their advertised restrictions on an outboundary Super Offpeak Day Travelcard can be legitimately got round by using a semifast train that stops at Surbiton, as travel within the zones is still allowed on the 'travelcard' part of the ticket during the evening peak period.
