Sunderland - Wolverhampton return 27/11/2010

Does anyone have any idea what is the cheapest way to go with this journey? There are two of us travelling this route although we are not bothered about departure ties as long as we arrive before 12pm. Also we looking to return the same day departing about 6pm. We are willing to travel the long way around to eg via Carlisle if required to keep costs down.

You could split at the usual places such as York, Sheffield, Derby. In the case of Sunderland, you need to split at Hartlepool to get the 'Not Darlington' CDR.

Or, alternatively as Wolverhampton is northwest of Birmingham, you could look at getting Advance tickets with TPE to Manchester, and then go to Wolverhampton from there. (split at Stoke, it is be cheaper to use Virgin between Manchester & Stoke also)
