Various sites are showing no tickets available for this service 1444 Sheffield to Stockport. Is it likely be cancelled? I know I can buy an anytime ticket and use that service, if it runs. My journey is Sheffield to Abergavenny which also shows no tickets on the 1444. They are available from Stockport on 1640 to Abergavenny.

Yet more 'compulsory reservations' silliness.. Don't worry, they're not actually compulsory, EMR are lying to their passengers. Just buy your ticket from the ticket office or a non-journey planner TVM. I have to say putting the compulsory reservations flag on a regional service reaches new heights of silliness.
I also advise seeing how busy the service is on the day, if it's reasonably quiet I'd be putting in a strongly worded complaint to EMR.

I could be wrong, but I think all the TVMs here in the north west are now "journey planner based", some have a "quick buy" menu but I think that still checks the journey planner behind the scenes. Probably not a huge issue in this case as there are likely other trains with availability but certainly something to be aware of.
