I came across the Falls of Cruachan station which is request only. According to the National Rail site http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/FOC/details.html :

It doesn't define "summer months" (but the PDF timetable seems to suggest end Oct), but more to the point - why can't it be used in the winter? It says "no station lighting", but that's not an issue during daylight hours; by my maths looking at the timetable there are at least 3 a day within that period (and 3-4 that aren't)."This station is a request stop only and is only open during summer months as there is no station lighting"
