Suggestions for things to do on South Pennine day ranger

Am thinking of doing a South Pennine day ranger on Saturday,and was wandering what are good places to visit,places to eat etc,things to do, am looking to start Manchester, heading towards Leeds, also taking in the Edale line, maybe Leeds to Sheffield on xc train, any particular lines which good to do,be grateful of any suggestions,i know fare and area covered,hope in right part,
