Sub Surface via Alperton is it still possible?

Looking at the night tube plan, I was just wondering the next obvious expansion of the current plan. Personally I'd like to see the District Line from Upminster to Wimbledon (which I thought would have been obvious from day one, but I guess the upgrade work would stop this for a while). I don't think Ealing Broadway needs two lines 24hr so I would divert the District onto the Piccadilly's Uxbridge branch at night as I can't ever imagine seeing the Metropolitan become 24hr. Are the S7s suitable for the Alperton route? I know it was built Sub Surface but have there been any changes to stop them running along there?

S7s are not able to run from Hanger Lane junction to Rayners Lane during traffic hours due to the incompatible (non-immunised) signalling.


Night 'tube' would not occur until the SSL upgrade progresses further.

Indeed!
The original post was specifically about S7 Stock.
D Stock are able to run with certain restrictions if the wrong route is accepted, S Stock are not.

The train would be worked in the wrong direction back behind the junction signal and then routed correctly. This is particularly important because as well as the risks associated with the signalling not being immunised, S Stock has not been gauged for the route either.

Modifications to the signalling are planned at Hanger Lane Junction to prevent any train longer than 6 cars of 1973 stock accepting the route towards North Ealing in error.

I agree about Wimbledon to Upminster although the eastern end of the line suffers from anti social behavior.

I would have thought a night service on The Met to Uxbridge was viable, maybe a Rayners Lane to Hammersmith shuttle on the Piccadilly Line?

Yh a lot of anti-Social behavior though Dagenham, funny a bit of a 'chavy' BNP hot bed too - I'm not suggesting a direct correlation of course...

As for Met to Uxbridge I would agree but I with the Jubilee line, it might take the advantage ratio down a bit.

A member of LU staff I spoke too yesterday said a Barking to Wimbledon service is planned when the necessary upgrade work has been done, looks like Upminster misses out again, no nightbus either:cry:
