Stroud-Nottingham-Aslockton-Reading journey advice

Not at a computer so a bit tricky to look up routeing etc. Does anyone have suggestions for the titular journey, to be made tomorrow ideally leaving Stroud around 9 via Gloucester, Nottingham around 5 and returning via the quickest route from ALK after a short stop.

Swindon-Aslockton SSR is the fare to beat. It's not me travelling so nothing too esoteric.
