Hi All,
Rather late notice I realise but just wondered if anyone has a better suggestion for the itinerary below (quickly as I'll book tickets this evening in order to reserve seats!):
Tomorrow (30/12) - Stroud to Carlisle
New year's day (1/1) - Carlisle to Mirfield
2nd January - Mirfield to Reading
2 adults, 1 under-5 with F&F railcard, Gold Card, and return portions of tickets valid for Stroud-Reading and London-Reading.
Ideally I'd like to travel via Cheltenham for Carlisle in order to save a little time (around 5h30 vs 6h via London), so if there's a ticket which would allow travel from Cheltenham and Brum out and via London return that would be great, but don't want to spend too much extra (£10 extra would be OK, £50 less so!). Though Salisbury-Carlisle route Not Via London might do, excessing to Via London on the return? Can anyone confirm - and whether this would be valid via Stroud or if I'd need to start at Cheltenham?
At the moment I'm thinking that a Reading-Carlisle SVR (route London), returning Carlisle-Leeds then Leeds-Mirfield single, then Mirfield-Wakefield single would be valid (we'd like to take the direct 1056 GC service Mirfield-London). Anyone see any problems with this plan?
edit: Mirfield is a member of Huddersfield routeing group, so I think that it should be valid as part of a Carlisle-London route (maps MM+ER) - correct?
