I'd like some advice on the following
This weekend I need to travel to Manchester and will buy a ticket on the day as I'm not sure exactly of the travel times.
Leaving tomorrow will be straightforward, but coming back on Sunday there are practically no trains on the WCML as Avanti and LNWR are on strike.
In a normal situation, I would buy the Super Off Peak return (WMR/LNR/TFW ONLY) as the journey time is not important - what is the position if I have this ticket and need to come back on Sunday when the route is impossible? Am I entitled to travel via an alternative route?
