I have Advance tickets for 8 people returning from Edinburgh on the 18 August, a strike day. The train we are booked on is not running. As I understand the rules, we can use our tickets over a 4 or 5 day window starting the day before the strike. Must we all return on the same train or can we spread it out? Some of the group need to get back because of work, while the rest would like to stay over an extra night.

Is this possible given the rules relating to industrial action?

The tickets are for a Cross Country train and booked though Trainline.

So long as there are no group discounts, and each person has their own ticket, then they can each do what they like, within the revised travel window.

Thanks for that. It's how I see it, but some of the wording from the rail companies is not as clear as it could be, which provides them with wiggle room.
