Strike action 30th March

Good afternoon folks,
My wife and I have booked a train Aberdeen to Manchester on 23rd March and return on 30th March. This is the first time i will have used a train for many years and am not up to speed with all the different train lines. There is a possibility of a strike on the 30th March and on the trainline site it has given a list of train companies/lines that will be affected. However, this does not mean anything to me.
I tried phoning trainline (5 times) and got cut off every time (or just silence). Have sent them an email but they say this could take 3 days to answer.
My question is - Will it be possible for us to travel from Manchester to Aberdeen on 30th March

Hi John. Welcome to the forum!

It won't be one train from Manchester up to Aberdeen. There'll be at least one intermediate change along the way. Do you have an itinerary with seat reservations for specific trains on Thursday 30th March 2023, and what type of ticket(s) have you booked, presumably they'll be "Off Peak" or "Advance" of some sort.

I assume you are travelling south of Edinburgh with Transpennine Express who say they will be operating extremely limited services on that date.
Scotrail services are not affected.
Your ticket will be valid on the previous or following days.
Detailed information won't be available until about 24th but you can get an idea by checking for tomorrow - there are replacement buses between Manchester and Huddersfield for journeys via York for example.
