If you want a proper street market, try Walthamstow High Street (the longest market in the country) although it's not as good as when I was a kid, or Roman Road in Bow.
I prefer indoor markets, the one in Leeds is fantastic, but Halifax's is pretty good too.

Chesterfield has a huge market, although I'm not 100% sure of the quality. Doncaster has one of the best market halls/outdoor markets I've come across.

I would not like to have to buy any of the produce on this market. The items for sale were virtually abutting the running line. I hope that no toilets were being flushed as the train passed through the market section.:roll:

I bet the Fruit and Veg are pretty good from there!
