VC656 on the Up Slow spur at Streatham North Junction now has a position light signal beneath the signal head.

Anyone know what this is for?

It can't be for permissive working, and there's no shunt that can be done there, so might it be a POSA?

I will check for you ASAP, but I believe it is out of use at the moment. I may be wrong, though.

There was in fact a problem with installation of signalling equipment on this spur a week or two ago. This resulted in some extra services running via the usually-rarely-used Fast Spur.

Is it connected with the upcoming resignalling?

It would appear that the whole stretch of BML between Balham (exclusive) and Thornton Heath (exclusive) is being resignalled, mostly with lightweight fold-down signals except for the ones recently installed after platform extensions (and possibly a couple of new gantries north of Streatham Common if I've interpreted the new foundations correctly). Doesn't seem to be any change in signal spacing, and if it's because the existing signalling is time-expired (installed roughly 1980? unchanged apart from patch replacement of signal heads with LED versions), why only this bit and not the rest of the line between Victoria (central) and the fringe with Three Bridges near Thornton Heath, last resignalled at the same time?

Confirmed as a POSA
