HI again

I wanted to ask this question on behalf of my girlfriend who is a student at Greenwich uni.

We are trying to work out what Travel must NOT involve London means, as we are being quoted a price of £60.30 for a monthly pass with this restriction.

The next option is £107 but it says You must travel via London. I am not sure what this means or what option she can actually use.

The third outside option was a Zone 1 - 4 travelcard at £105.60 but this would leave her money very tight between loans.

It would be great to have the travelcard for her to get buses and so on if need be I am not sure if it is possible to get it cheaper somehow as she is a student?

She currently holds a student railcard.

That's Correct a 16-25 railcard. How many days do she need to make the Journey?

Okay May I also ask do you hold the Transport for London 18+ Student Card.

This will explain 18+ Student Card
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Lets get one thing Sorted. A Route Not London Ticket Means you cannot travel via Central London, the most suitable route offered by a Journey Planner is :

Streatham - Peckham Rye - Catford - Walk to Catford Bridge - Lewisham - New Eltham

as you can see this journey does not involve central london.

a Route London Not Underground ticket would mean you can go :

Streatham - London Bridge - Lewisham - New Eltham

No she does not have that card you mention.

It would seem that the travelcard would be the better option then as a route london montly pass is £107 vs a monthly travelcard @ £105

You could purchase the London z2 - z4 Monthly Travelcard, for which you would need an Oyster Card, you can get these from London Underground Ticket Offices for a Deposit of £5.

The Prices are as follows :

London Zone 2 - London Zone 4 Monthly priced @ £87.60

Now if you were to hold or get a 18 + Student Card ( your gf should be eligble) see the link i have posted for more details, you can reduce this down to £61.10 per month with Student Card :)

Look into getting that Student Card as it saves you 30% on Monthly Seasons, and Normal Fares. The Monthly travelcard you mention as being London Zone 1-4 is actually £151.30. The Price you mention is with the 18+ Student Card Discount applied :)

London Bridge is in Zone 1 yes. I was offering the Zone 2 -4 Option as then you could travel the route Not London Option above, as well as being able to use buses, trams, dlr, tube in Zones 2-4. Generally Speaking it is always Cheaper to Avoid Zone 1 :)

What Sonic said. The best route for this journey would be Streatham to Peckham Rye to Lewisham to New Eltham. There's no need to go via Catford other than later in the evening or on Sundays. As that doesn't involve travel via London Bridge you don't need zone 1. There is a potential issue with this journey on an Oystercard with a z2-4 travelcard because the default fare assumes travel via London Bridge. However, as long as you stay within zones 2-4 and avoid touching in/out at one end you will be ok.

I think she is going to go for the z1 - z4 card as time wise we moved into london from walton on thames as she was spending over 2 hours a day on travel TO uni and another two hours BACK.

Thanks for your help tho people :)
