Was thinking of doing one of these later this year with sleeper moves to and from Glasgow. The main question is that do you have to have any children on the £10.20 ticket?

I interpret the conditions to mean you don't have to have any children on that ticket.

Then again, if a train's delayed and you meet a nice young lady.......

I used them for 3 days out of 4 in the Glasgow area recently. I combined my First Glasgow buses of interest on the same day to use just a First Day ticket (+ a McGills day ticket for their buses as they do not accept Daytrippers). Anyway, at £10.20 it is good value if you travel sufficiently far afield. On the Saturday I went to Bathgate (paying another Day Return fare from Drumgelloch to Bathgate) and Ayr. I notice that an off-peak Day Return from Ayr to Drumgelloch costs £10.90m, making a Strathclyde Daytripper cheaper!

Same as the roundabout, it is cheaper for me to buy that than a ticket to/from Cumbernauld in order to travel to Glasgow via Motherwell

The daytripper is great if you can travel after 09:00
Shame McGills don't accept the ticket, it was the same when they operated from Barrhead but I would have expected that to have changed...

Another question now I have actually booked the relevant advances to get there.

I am planning on purchashing this ticket at Caldercuix or Shotts. Do any of these have ticket purchasing facilities where I could buy a daytripper for 2 adults (£18.20 afaik), or can this ticket be purchased on board the trains on the Airdrie - Bathgate or Shotts line?

I know occasionally a train can be very delayed.

But I've never seen one delayed by 9 months!

Caldercruix isn't staffed. I think only a ticket machine is in the shelters there.

Shotts has a booking office and you can purchase one there, or as many as you like for future days out. If you board at Caldercruix, just ask the ticket examiner for a daytripper exchange for 2 adults and 4 children. Exchange the ticket received at the first manned station you find yourself alighting at.

Seriously Scotrail must hate it and be praying for it's demise, the attitude extends to some staff, Central platform staff can be a wee bit snooty and scrutinise it, and you, as if you were a fare dodger!

It is worth scrutinising , though not as bad as before they applied the sticky plastic. Back then, every second person claimed the bairn had scratched off the wrong date. A fair proportion of folk don't even scratch it at all anymore . Great product though, I sell loads of them, and the kids go free tickets every day.

I once did Central - Ayr - Central - New Cumnock - Central - *walk* - Queen Street - Partick - Central on one. My mates then went and did Queen Street - Ardlui - Queen Street (guaranteed connection, it's a crew change)

I must be showing my age! I tend to think of a nice young lady being rather oldr than that.
