The other day walking along Pollokshaws Rd < Glasgow> i peered over a bridge looking down at the litter stewn line and wondered how often it is used? I recall taking a diversion on a East Kilbride service in July 2005 .

What is the 'Strathbungo Link Line' for the benefit of the majority of posters who don't have the benefit of living in South Glasgow? I guess it must be the cut-off providing a direct route from Crossmyloof to Polmadie? I and lots of other lucky punters scratched this last year on the SRPS's superb jaunt from Carlisle to Inverness and back behind 40145![]()
Yeah your right Polmadie to Crossmyloof . The Track looks old and the track seems to be a dumping ground . Ive never seen any freight on it .
The polmadie end is larkfield junction, and leads to muirhouse south junction obviously . You are right though, the track/lineside isn't in the best of condition! The EK ecs will typically sit at the signal immediately before muirhouse for around 10-20 minutes in the morning at around half 6 to 7, though i haven't worked this service for some time. There is also another ecs working from Corkerhill to EK, this goes via the terminus curve from shields junction to muirhouse central junction , these moves are mainly for crew route retention. As i said earlier, i've seen freight over the strahbungo link, but it isn't particularly regular from what can tell, thats for sure.
WRT waiting around on this section, in both directions last year's SRPS tour sat for ages waiting to get out of it. Plenty of time in which to view the litter strewn cutting.

Yeah im amazed of the amount of crap that gets chucked on the line.
That's nothing, you should see the amount of crap Glaswegians chuck on the streets, pavements, parks, gardens etc etc etc etc![]()
