Stratford / Clapham Junc / Willesden Junc

Im thinking of going to visit these stations, and Im wondering which the platforms to be on, for freight, photos etc.

Willesden Junction has a bridge spanning all the lines, which I believe is ideal as you can see just about everything from it. I've never actually been on it, so I don't know how to access it, but I recall that a step ladder is needed to see over the top.

Clapham Junction, most freight will pass through the Windor platforms, but the Wimbledon platforms are best as they give a view of the whole approach looking towards central London, as well as Clapham Yard.

Not too sure about Stratford.

At Willysden Junction if you go halfway up the steps up to the overbridge you can see everything on the lowlevel and most stuff on the high, but photography from there isn't very good, just try and find the best spot around there.

at stratford the new north london line platforms would be good ones to use when they open, but I can't remember the platform numbers but the best ones I find are the I think 8 and 9, which are on the high level and the furthest from the entrance, I ahve not been there for a while so I can't remember much

Clearly.

The platforms furthest from the entrance are 11 and 12, right at the far end of the subway. These are nice but they are around the corner from the GE mainlines so you won't see much from there except the hourly Cl317 coming up from the West Anglia lines. The new NLL platforms have been open for months but again might not be the best spot. I've certainly seen no spotters/photters on there yet.

However, 8 or 9 should be OK.

I agree and was going to say the same. Go to Platform 10 here you can get all the freight that goes through Stratford station plus passenger trains on the fast (platforms 9 and 10) and 'up' slow lines (platform 8) and the Overground Platforms 1 and 2.

At Clapham my favourite platform is 9/10, 10 is the busiest in the station from here you can see all trains through the station but for whatever freight that goes through there you would want the lower platforms maybe 4 or 5.

A note on Clapham Junction, the next stop down on the Windsor Lines, Queenstown Road Battersea has about 10tph passing through, many not stopping and a view towards the Junction as it's so close. At CLJ my favourite platforms are 13 and 14. The up end is tranquil at rush hour and I comfortably set up a tripod:
