Strasbourg to Zurich/ Chur

I planned to travel on Sat 4/10/25. Strasbourg to Basel, using SNCF TER to Basel. There seems to be no Saturday service on that date. My final destination is Zurich/Chur any recommendations and does anyone know what has happening?

The line between Basel and Basel St. Johann will be closed every weekend in October 2025 due to infrastructure upgrades. TGV services between Basel SBB and Mulhouse, and TER services between Basel SBB and Saint-Louis, will be cancelled every weekend from Friday 10.45pm to Monday 5am. Travellers between Basel SBB and Saint-Louis can use BVB trams 1 and 3.

Would going via Stuttgart to Zurich be a good route?

The other obvious route would be local train to Offenburg, and then ICE to Basel but there appears to be engineering work between Freiburg and Basel at weekends as well!

Stuttgart is somewhat off route, but depending on what ticket you have - Interrail perhaps? - it may be an option.

There is also the slow, but highly scenic, Schwarzwaldbahn Offenburg to Singen (where you can reach Zuerich) or Konstanz (where you can make your way to Chur from there).

I couldn’t believe that journey planners would not show the fast TER teminating at Saint-Louis then tram to Basel SBB, as bahnause stated above.

SBB and bahn.de do show correctly. SNCF-Connect comes up with an occasional satirical route via Belfort-Montbéliard and Biel, but maybe gets 2 marks out of 10 for a note explaining the work and ticket acceptance on the tram, assuming you accidentally found that itinerary via Mulhouse.
