The train is 6U33, 23:22 Preston Dock St Sidings to Cherry Tree however TRUST has no consist and the train has not left Preston yet. There is no return working that I can see.

Most odd!

EDIT: The train has is now showing at Cherry Tree at 00:45, 51 minutes late however there is still no consist and I still cannot find a return working.

Thanks Tom, strange indeed. Looking at the track plans, there's no sidings or yards shown at Cherry Tree - nearest being Whittle at Bamber Bridge and British Fuels on the Down Through Siding at Blackburn. Both have crossovers etc. closer to them then Cherry Tree.

However, I did find this listed for this morning starting a mile up the line but there are no running times shown against it: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U93001/2013/08/29/advanced

Cheers!

Most probably some sort of on-track machine going to work overnight in a possession.

I can't find a return journey from Cherry Tree, so where does it disappear to?
When track machines are working in an overnight engineering possession,
they often depart from a different location (i.e. the 'far end' of the possession)
when they have finished.

In this case, the machine was working between Cherry Tree and Pleasington.
