Morning all,

Got a quick question for you which i cant seem get answered by the train company involved.

My partner was booked to travel from Darlo to Hull last Saturday. She didnt travel becuase she was in hospital. It was an emergency so we didnt even pick up the tickets form the fast ticket machine at Bank Top.

I am trying to get a refund on her tickets and no seems to be able to answer if i can becuase we dont have the tickets. We have tried to collect them and then apply for a refund but the machine wont recognise the code or issue the tickets. They are just standard tickets booked through the East Coast website

Anyone know how to solve this one?

If they are Advance tickets you won;t get a refund. (This is one of the reaosn why TOC's love Advance tickets).

I think it was mentioned on here some time ago that TVM's won't print tickets after the date of travel. I also don;t believe that ticket offices can do this either. If this is the case, then the only thing I can suggest is that you contact the TOC directly, but it appears you have already tried this.

They are just standard open singles not the cheap ones (becuase she couldnt decide when to go/come back!)which why i am keen to get the money back.

I have called East Coast but they seemed confused by the fact that i dont have the tickets

Keep trying. Eventually you'll speak to someone who'll understand.

And you could put it in writing. In my experience you get a better reply from someone with an understanding of how things work, even though it will obviously take a bit longer!

If you booked them on line, then just log into your account, bring up your journey history, select the journey in question then click on "refund". (This is certainly what happens on the East Coast website - I imagine other on-line retailers have a similar system)

Hopefully they will have recorded that the tickets were not issued.

If the booking is recalled on Tribute, it'll show a status code as to whether it's been issued and, if so, where. Presumably the East Coast "back office" system has a similar feature.

Cheers,

Barry

Just a thought though, why book them in advance? When You didn't know when You were going. Why not just buy them when You were ready to travel?
I presume this is what You'll do next time.
