Strange Lights

I saw some strange lights this evening in the four foot of two of the four tracks on the MML. The tracks were next to each other on one side (the up slow and down slow I think). They were two lights or pairs of lights. A train ran on the furthest of the tracks, and didn't sound it's horn. There was no sign of anyone trackside, I didn't see anyone around in all orange, and what I think is the nearest access point was shut and locked, with no signs of anyone about.

What were they?

Bloody hell, where's Derek Accora when you need him? Seriously though, if they close a line (I've been there today, slow lines only Leicester-Trent Jcn) then you need to put up stop markers, which have lights on too, at either end of the closure. Hope this helps

I thought they might be possession markers, but was puzzled by the lack of any (visible) activity.

I can't have seen your work though, I was well south of there, under the wires in Hertfordshire.

I think it was the 'inside' of a work site, that is exit from work site. Thanks TheExmoorBeast.

Does anyone know why the slow lines were blocked in Herts in late rush hour?

Probably worksite marker boards. Flashing yellow on one side to denote exit of worksite, flashing reds on the other to denote entrance (limits of Engineering Supervisors area and Person In Charge Of Possessions area respectively.


Lack of personnel could merely mean a large worksite.
