‘Due to this train being late from the depot’ is what is displayed on Northern Journey Check.

I imagine it was a message that was meant to scroll and say something more, but the screen isn't encoded for that. I reckon it might have said "delayed due to this train being delayed on a previous journey" or something along those lines

Which isn't true since it was delayed on its previous journey which was a Middlesborough to Whitby journey, but it arrived into Middlesborough 3 minutes early previous to that - not like anyone will really care why it's delayed tho

Doesn’t really matter no. The root cause however May have been a train that was late from the depot be it this or another service that caused a knock on.

I used to work with somebody that loved to find the root cause and would show an Ipswich to Lowestoft service for example as delayed by overhead power issues at Tamworth as this was what delayed the Freightliner that delayed the Liverpool St to Norwich that caused the late start of the East Suffolk service awaiting connections.

If a screen can't scroll, wonder if all the possible delays could have a code (so it would read Delay due to B3) and somewhere on the station is a poster explaining each code? Think you get posters about delay repay, so I think that would be a useful addition.

In this day and age, every screen should be able to scroll to show the whole of a long message.

I guess it's something to do whilst whiling away the time...but I doubt the average passenger really cares. They just want to know how long the delay is, when will they get to their station and will they make any connections.
