Stowmarket Fallen Tree 27/01/26

A tree has fallen onto the overhead wires, damaging them in and around Stowmarket. Does anyone know the scale of repairs this may need at all?

I have also noticed 0E06 Harwich - Peterborough was stuck just behind the situation, it has now turned around and will form a new service under the headcode 0E06 (the same), going from Claydon - Whitemoor Yard. It will go via Stratford, Broxbourne and Cambridge up the GEML and WAML.

Ipswich has now become extremely congested, with 2 Norwich services on Plats 3 & 4, various freights trying to get towards London, terminating services trying to get in and ECS trying to get out.

Praises to the team at Colchester and Liverpool St sorting this out.

It didn't look like a very big tree to my untrained eyes. An absolute mess on the ground with a scramble for taxis and buses. The only saving grace is the planned engineering works overnight, so some buses were ready. Some Norwich-bound services ran via Lowestoft, with the 22:16 Ipswich to Lowestoft running through to Norwich (rather than ECS like usual).

Ouch - 254 minutes delay on a planned journey time of 107 minutes is not good - wonder if the crew stuck with the unit or they got swapped somewhere/somehow...
