Stourbridge - Nuneaton - Leamington circular.

Hi.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of ticketing advice.

I'm planning a day out later in the month, but I'm not sure what the best tickets would be to do it.

Planning to do Stourbridge Town to Nuneaton changing at Galton Bridge and New Street, from Nuneaton to Coventry on the 153 (to clear that line), Coventry to Kenilworth (to visit that station) before continuing onto Leamington Spa, then back up the Snow Hill lines to Stourbridge and then rely on Rotala to get home.

I know the Daytripper is valid Stourbridge to Birmingham, Coventry Arena to Coventry and Dorridge to Stourbridge, plus my bus home, with the Plus version also valid Leamington to Dorridge but I'm not sure what would be the best option for the none Daytripper zone travel.

Can anyone give me some good advice please?

Cheapest would be New St - Nuneaton via Coventry + £3.90 return Ricoh to Nuneaton, then £6 single Coventry to Dorridge. The long range train area pass is nearly thirty quid so that's a no.

There can be some tedious gaps between connections. Trains are pretty irregular Leamington-Brum for example.

Just remember it will be roughly an hour wait at Coventry between the service from Nuneaton arriving & the 153 to Leamington due to the timetable which sees the Coventry - Leamington service departing just as the service from Nuneaton arrives.

Yeah, I'd realised that so thought about a quick nip into town for some lunch.

Do you have to go direct (via Coleshill) from Birmingham to Nuneaton?

I'm a complete amateur fares juggler, but assuming you don't need to go via Coleshill, and you want to travel with a Daytripper, I suggest doing a single from New St to Coventry, return from Coventry to Nuneaton and single from Coventry to Dorridge, which I think is what @boxy321 suggested. The total cost, Off-Peak, including your Daytripper is £22.00.

If you don't travel with a Daytripper, I think you can do a return from Stourbridge to Leamington (you break your outward at Coventry, return via Dorridge) and a return from Coventry to Nuneaton. The total cost, Off-Peak is then only £17.80, but you would lose the extra benefits of the Daytripper e.g. to get the bus to and from Stourbridge.
