My son travelling to Exeter from Leeds this afternoon (Thursday 02/11/23) I assume with Cross Country but all Leeds to Exeter Services Cancelled. However whoever his Split Ticket Company he bought his ticket from has informed him the train will terminate at Bristol. Where is the problem and who is right because National Rail saying all Services cancelled. I assume if he can get to Bristol he could take a Coach to Exeter. Any other options?

I believe a lot of services between Taunton and Exeter are cancelled. There’s road replacement transport between Taunton and Exeter, or ticket acceptance is available with GWR:

The forecast severe weather means that fewer trains are able to run between Taunton and Plymouth. It is anticipated that there will be significant disruption to CrossCountry services running on this route.

You may use your ticket on Great Western Railway services via any reasonable route at no extra cost.

Replacement road transport services are conveying passengers between Exeter St Davids and Taunton in both directions until further notice.

Crosscountry services are running as far as Bristol from the north, due to the potential impacts of Storm Ciaran in the South West.

You can check the status of XC services from Leeds to Exeter here:

Trains appear to be running fine through to Bristol (they are only cancelled onwards to Exeter) Road transport is being provided for travel between Bristol and stations to Exeter.

Unfortunately the headline info on NRE and XC says "cancelled" which is pretty unhelpful. At least XC have added detail.

It looks as though it may be necessary to use GW between Bristol and Taunton to pick up the coach.

(Presumably the Exe is flooding at Cowley Bridge and the flood barriers are in place.)

Well despite all the hassle he's made it onto the Rail Replacement Coach Taunton to Exeter. Changed at Bristol Temple Meads (Cross Country Service finished there) for the 16:52 Bristol Temple Meads to Taunton Service which left 20 minutes late due to 'Delayed by more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time'. I'm sure they make these excuses up!
