Has there been any disruption on the coast line that passes through Harlech?

Is the extreme wind warning in the area of the long water crossing bridge between Arnside and Grange-over-Sands?

TfW have now cancelled a load of late evening services on Friday night.

Looks like nothing moving west of Carmarthen after about 9pm.
Final run from Shrewsbury to Llandrindod and back also gone.

The final train along the North Wales Coast on Friday night has also been cancelled, along with the first train on Saturday morning.
The 2320 Manchester Airport to Holyhead will terminate short at Chester, while the 0425 Holyhead to Cardiff will start from Chester.

Without a lot of good luck, probably a lot more cancellations on the board by this time tomorrow.

I'd been hoping* to get an early train out of Swansea, in order to get back up north to Llandudno before the worst of the weather moved in tonight.

The GWR train I boarded was delayed due to lack of a driver, and now everything's stopped until further notice due to "an incident at Baglan". It seems like I've got plenty of disruption to deal with before I get to the storm zone.

*I'd originally planned to get a loco-hauled service from Cardiff, and a first-class meal on the way. That's long since dropped out of contention!

Avanti says major delays on Scottish routes and minor delays on the others, but I think their website tends to be slow at times in updating information about individual train delays. The 13:30's +46 approaching Carlisle according to Traksy; the Avanti website says there's a landslip between Tamworth and Nuneaton (weather related?) and defective track between Rugby and Milton Keynes, and Crewe and Warrington (not weather related?).

It’s great when a plan comes off!

I got us seats on the 11.48 from Doncaster which turned out to be the (original) 11.15 from Leeds which instead was started from York. The Passenger Assistance was great. The train was almost empty on arrival and although a lot of people got on at Doncaster having been bussed from Leeds and Wakefield our first class carriage was only half full which was just as well as there were no reservations showing.

The service ran on time from Doncaster as it was in the window between storms.

The Met Office has issued weather warnings from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 December due to Storm Darragh, with strong winds affecting much of Britain, along with heavy rain forecast in parts of Scotland and Wales.

Not sure if whole country has received it, but in Plymouth we have received the Govenrment emergency text alarm thingy warning not to risk going out unless absolutely necessary between now and lunchtime tomorrow. I think the rail service in the west will be a bit of a none starter tomorrow.

TfW have now cancelled all Chester - Liverpool Lime St for tomorrow, which is fairly routine with Merseyrail as an alternative and generally means they want to concentrate resources on other routes.

I think Merseyrail is buses tomorrow too from Chester.

At about an hour's notice, less than that for anyone who was, you know, actually doing anything rather than refreshing journeycheck every 2 minutes as opposed to 30 minutes.

The last train of the night, cancelled *throughout* not just the bits furthest west.

Nothing whatsoever has changed about the weather warnings in many hours. Nor is there any sign of anything *actual* on the route that hasn't been there for hours unless journeycheck and other sources are out of date.

Absolutely disgraceful on face value.

If GWR was going to start cancelling last trains leaving people stranded (or in this case causing me to now potentially have to go on a 200 mile round trip rescue mission vying more closely with the weather closing in) they should have done it many hours ago when all the public facing information available was as it is right now. Not also cancelled the 21:48 at least from Paddington at basically no notice and then latterly ditched the entirety of the last train.

Everything is running to Bristol so I assume they have a plan to get these people home at least as far as Cardiff, where the *Amber* warning doesn't even come into force until the last train is supposed to arrive.

The actual weather is the next problem those of us living in the area will have to have face. The Railway being useless (at communication if nothing else) is the last thing anyone needs on top.

It was originally cancelled at 19:35, reinstated at 19:57 and then cancelled again at 20:57

1B36 was also started from Reading due to late running caused by TfW 1B67 that had mechanical failure smoke/fire at Baglan

That depends. This storm is a bit 'different' compared to other winter storms. The winds will be coming in from a northerly direction, as well as the longevity of the gusts duration themselves. So rather than a quick and strong 'blow' type of storm, which passes through relatively quickly, this one will be more of a slow burner. With gusts lasting throughout the whole of Saturday and into Sunday. It might not bring lots of trees down immediately, however it'll last long enough to weaken them, which can then cause them to eventually fail and fall over. Not to mention any other associated infrastructure failures.

According to someone I'm trying to help, the 21:48 was still at Reading until the 22:03 PAD->BRI arrived and will allegedly be running through.

Apparently this is knowable to those who trawl (and therefore must be logged into...) X, and nobody else.

Why does anyone think being compelled to "contribute to Elon Musk's wealth to get useful information about train running but everyone else can get stuffed" is an ok comms policy for a massively subsidised quasi-public body?

Anyone in London who checked journeycheck after about 21:45 (but not after 20:45 at which time all was fine in terms of public facing data) for the 22:49 is now presumably stuffed.
