Stopping on a Crossing

Hi All,
Coming out of Doncaster towards Leeds yesterday we passed over two sets of Level Crossings (One is the ECML and the other towards Leeds), as we passed over yesterday there was a Class 91 set on the ECML branch that was stationary.
Is this common for something to stop on a crossing or was it a one off?

Hardly a day goes by without one or even many trains stopping on those crossings at the north end of Doncaster station. That'll be Marshgate Junction where not only are there regular conflicts between the Leeds and York lines converging, but there can often be delays waiting for a platform to become available. The road freight company whose access roads are via those level crossings are well used to being held while a train waits over those LCs.

happens quite often on both the York leg and the Leeds leg at Marshgate. The worst thing is when you are held there on a train that doesnt call at Doncaster!

Same thing happens at Lostwithiel on the down side when HSTs stop.
