Just wondering, when us folk down here in the sunny south west, when we get the likes of Freightliner etc. workings coming down here, like with the new aggregate runs from Neasden/Neath, etc., which seem to layover in Hackney Yard overnight, do the companies have an aggreement with a local hotel or something the like to put the drivers up for the night that bring the trains down?

i think it is called lodgings and is part off there turn, either that or there is a company car waiting for them to drive back, thats what the fl drivers do on the calvert bin liners, driver brings in the train shunts it then is releaved by another driver who has driven there in a car/van,and the releaved driver then drives the car/van home.

FL drivers get paid £100 for lodging and to pay for the hotel I was told. I applied (twice - never got an interview. Record probably too clean for them ).

I thought that I could stay at my cousin's in Leed and pocket the money

On the night Exeters we used to take the stock into the sidings and lay the cushions out on the floor in the aisle with a sleeping bag on top.

Signalman would give you a wake up call on the CSR and you'd take it back into the platform.
