Yes, not on here I hasten to add. It is annoying when little neds (chavs) take your e-mail address, pass it around, and you get loads of friend requests to say no to everytime you start up whatever program.
I do screen these people out, as they almost all have cfc, 1888 or weeman in the e-mail addresses, but most random people are welcome. I delete most of them if they don't talk, but I have had some interesting conversations with people I don't know.
How true. There is often a lot of paranoia about this. I receive a lot of unwanted calls, texts and e-mails in my business. They are all told unsolicited approaches will NOT be accepted. If they persist, as many do, they get told where to go in very Anglo-Saxon language-they had been warned.
With a forum, where the whole point is 'the exchange of views and opinions', the situation is somewhat different.
If you disagree with a viewpoint, do say so. If the response reduces the exchange to a personal level, ignore it.
Some unfortunately rise to the 'bait', and finish up getting banned themselves. Where does THAT get you?
Others harbour some kind of 'grudge', perceived or otherwise. The simple way is to PM the person concerned and try and settle the matter rationally. ONLY if this fails, block the person and THEN ignore him/her.
Some unfortunately move to this stage WITHOUT trying to resolve the problem!
