There is engineering work taking place between Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly and between Cheadle Hulme and Congleton on Sunday 1 and until 0500 on Monday 2 January 2012.
On Sunday 1st, Arriva services between Cardiff and Manchester will be diverted via Styal and will not call at Stockport. Passengers travelling to/from Stockport are advised to use replacement road transport between Wilmslow/Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.
CrossCountry services will divert via Wilmslow and Crewe, not calling at Stockport, Macclesfield or Stoke-on-Trent. Buses will run between Stockport and Stafford, calling at Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent.
East Midlands Trains services on Sunday only between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich will be diverted via Romiley and will not call at Stockport. Passengers travelling to/from Stockport are advised to use replacement road transport between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.
First TransPennine Express services all day Sunday and until 0500 on Monday will be diverted and will not call at Stockport. Replacement road transport will run between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport. On Sunday the following services will not run: 0005 and 0530 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North bus services, 0122 Manchester Airport to York, 1P01 0244 York to Manchester Airport, 03:20 and 05:20 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport bus services and the 0708 Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport service. Also, 1N54 0730 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North service will start from Manchester Piccadilly at 0746.
Northern services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stoke-on-Trent will be replaced by buses throughout, Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Alderley Edge/Crewe will be replaced by buses throughout. Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Alderley Edge via Manchester Airport will be extended to/from Crewe to provide rail journeys between Crewe and Alderley Edge/Manchester Piccadilly. Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton will be replaced by buses between Manchester Piccadilly and Hazel Grove, and trains between Southport/Wigan and Stockport/Chester will be replaced by buses between Manchester Piccadilly/Stockport and Altrincham.
Virgin services will be diverted via Styal and will not call at Stockport and an hourly service will run between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston, starting at 10:00 from Manchester and at 12:00 from London. This will increase to a half-hourly service later in the day. Buses will run between Stockport and Macclesfield, Wilmslow & Macclesfield & Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent.
