Platform 0 is never used at Stockport. I remember a Buxton train about a year ago being put on there, but until today I've not once seen it being used again.

Today, it saw two services in the space of about 15 minutes. One to Alderly Edge and another to Buxton.

I thought that there was a reason that platform 0 wasn't used?
Surely if there is a reason then it shouldn't be used at all? And if there's not, then why not use it more?

I wasn't aware that P0 at Stockport was in use yet  I thought the signalling still had to be commisioned before anything used it ....

There was some problems with Track Circuits with P0, I presume this is fixed given trains using it.

I assume it was just local trains given the ease of access to the Slow Lines without blocking the fast lines into P1 and P2. Virgin timings changed recently and have a quick in and out system in Stockport given the amount of Slack in the timetable from Piccadilly removed.

Well, again, it was in use over a year ago. And the picture is proof for today!

According to whoever was in Heaton Horris signal box the other day, Platform 0 isn't used because they don't have enough platform staff to cover it.
