Apologies if this has already been covered; I did a search and 494 threads came up, none of which were relevant!

I just wondered what stock had plug sockets for public use? I know of the following:

HSTs
220
221
222
185
158 (Arriva anyway)
180 (I think)
175s used to in Coach B, but don't anymore
390
All East Coast Trains
380
395

I really think FGW 158s on the Cardiff to Portsmouth route could do with them! (and a few extra carriages whilst we're there, but I won't go on to that now :P)

Class 444 at the tables in the end standard coach and in first class.
Class 450 (and at a guess 350s) in first class. (And presumably the ex-first class section on HC 450s)

350s definitely, not sure about HC 450s though! Pretty sure the seating layout was changed so sockets may have been removed... hmm...

They still got reading lights though, so they may have kept the sockets, saves a big rewire.

EDIT:

According to this website they are still in.

The original first class under luggage-rack lighting and lap top/telephone power points have been retained, while the first class curtains have been removed.

The HC 450s were modified on the basis that they could be easily returned to normal as built condition, and as it turns out they are going to be once the 458/5 are all in service.

CrossCountry HSTS have them throughout though!

As do FGW, under the seats and on the tables.

What's the variable voltage socket for in the luggage rack on the HSTs?

IIRC older 377s have them in first class, and 377/5s have them at all tables

I don't think the 175s have ever had power sockets available to the public. There are headphone sockets integrated into the armrests of some seats in Coach B, but they haven't been functional for years.

I could have sworn they had plug sockets. I only saw them once, and that was looking through the window on the platform. May be wrong though. I think they could do with plugs, especially considering Carmarthen to Manchester is close to 5 hours journey time and passes through big towns and cities such as Swansea, Cardiff, Hereford, Shrewsbury and Crewe.
