Recently I purchased a cab ride about a return journey for Uckfield.
They professed to have both 171 and 377 stock on the DVD - in the catalogue and on the DVD wrapper.
Well, I only saw (and heard) a 171.

This is what one would expect on a non-electrified service (Croyden East to Uckfield and back).

Anyone have a guess as to what the reference to a 377 is all about?

Hi there,
I grew up in Uckfield and know that line well...

The line runs from East Croydon to Hurst Green where there is a junction. The Uckfield trains diverge away to the left and the other line goes onto East Grinstead.

The East Croydon to East Grinstead line is electrified and the stock used is class 377's. Hence the northern portion of the East Croydon to Uckfield line is shared between diesel (Class 171) and 3rd rail electrics (Class 377).

I guess that's why the DVD mentioned it?
Cheers,
Jason

Thanks, Jason, I kind of figured as much and I did see some 377s going by north of Hurst Green but I just thought it odd to mention them as if we were going to "ride" on one for part of the journey.

In that case, they might as well have mentioned the 460s to Gatwick!

Usually for a cab ride one gets to "ride" in the advertised stock.

Who made the cab ride? Are there details online, that might give us more of a clue!

Well I hadn't wanted to name names, but since asked, it is 225 Studios.
It is a recent release but once I got the DVD is was copywrite 2006.

It is listed in their online catalog under the Southern section.

I sent them a query asking about the 377 references, but no reply as of yet.
